01. Who we are
Unfold: Papercraft Studio (“Unfold”) is operated by Aktivito Bilgi ve Teknoloji Hiz. A.S., a company based in Türkiye (“we”, “us”). We are responsible, as data controller, for the personal information described in this policy.
This policy covers the Unfold app for iPhone and iPad, this website, and Unfold support. For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].
02. At a glance
You can browse, subscribe, save projects, and print without creating an account. An account is optional and needs only an email address.
We don’t show ads, track you across other companies’ apps or websites, or sell personal information. The app doesn’t ask for access to your location, contacts, camera, or photos. Apple handles every payment, and we never receive your card details.
03. Information we collect
When you use the app
To show the catalog, images, and templates, the app connects to our backend. Our hosting provider automatically logs these requests, including your IP address, an approximate location derived from it (such as country, region, or city), the address requested, the time, and technical details of the response. If you’re signed in, these requests can be associated with your account.
If you use the app without an account, your saved projects, collections, and build progress stay on your device.
Accounts and sign-in
If you create an account, we process your email address and a unique account identifier. You can sign in with a one-time code sent to your email or with Sign in with Apple. With Sign in with Apple, we ask only for your email address, which may be a private relay address provided by Apple. We also record when your account was created and when you last signed in.
When you’re signed in, the templates you save are stored with your account so they can appear on your other devices and count toward each template’s overall popularity. Collections and build progress stay on your device. If you sign in after using the app as a guest, the work saved on that device moves into your account.
Memberships and purchases
Apple processes all payments. To confirm memberships, handle renewals and refunds, and keep accurate financial records, we receive transaction information signed by Apple, both from the app and directly from Apple’s servers. This includes transaction identifiers, the plan purchased, purchase, renewal, and expiration dates, auto-renewal status, price and currency, and refund or revocation details.
If you buy while signed in, the purchase is linked to your account. If you buy as a guest, the purchase carries a random identifier created on your device instead. It is linked to an account only if you later sign in on that device.
Printing
When you print, the app retrieves the template, checks it, and sends it to the printer you choose using Apple’s printing system. The app doesn’t keep a copy of the document or offer it for download, and we don’t receive information about your printer.
Optional reminders
If you ask for a membership reminder, the app requests notification permission and schedules the reminder on your device. It isn’t sent from our servers, and you can turn notifications off at any time in Settings.
When you contact support
If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you include, your message, and any attachments. Please don’t send passwords or payment card details.
When you visit this website
Our hosting and network providers process technical information such as your IP address, browser details, the page requested, and the time of the request to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Unfold’s web pages don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.
04. How & why we use it
To provide Unfold. We use account, purchase, and request information to run accounts and sign-in, give members access to the catalog, save templates, and support printing. This is necessary to provide the service you ask for.
To keep Unfold safe and working. We use logs and account activity to secure the service, prevent abuse, fix problems, and understand overall use, such as how many accounts are created and active and which templates are popular. We do this based on our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable service.
To meet legal obligations. We keep financial and transaction records and may use information to comply with the law or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
With your permission. We send an optional reminder only if you ask for one, and you can withdraw that permission at any time.
We don’t use your information for advertising or sell it to anyone.
05. Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us run Unfold, and only as much as they need:
Supabase provides our database, accounts and sign-in, file storage, and backend functions, hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States.
Amazon Web Services delivers sign-in code emails through Amazon Simple Email Service in the United States.
Apple provides App Store payments, subscriptions, Sign in with Apple, and printing on your device, under Apple’s privacy policy.
Google Workspace hosts our support mailbox.
WP Engine and Cloudflare host and deliver this website.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or similar business transfer, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
06. International transfers
We are based in Türkiye, and our main service providers process information in the United States and other countries. These countries may not offer the same level of data protection as the country where you live. You can contact us to ask about the safeguards that apply to these transfers.
07. How long we keep it
Account information and saved templates are kept until you delete your account.
Purchase and transaction records are kept after an account is deleted, no longer linked to that account, for as long as needed for accounting, tax, refunds, and other legal obligations.
Hosting and request logs are kept for a limited period set by our hosting provider and then deleted automatically.
Support emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request, follow up, and meet legal obligations.
Information on your device stays until you remove it or delete the app. Deleting your account removes that account’s library from the device you delete it on. A random purchase identifier stored in your device’s keychain may remain after the app is deleted.
08. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, including under Türkiye’s Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) and the EU and UK GDPR, you may have the right to learn whether we process your information and receive a copy, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, withdraw consent, and learn which recipients receive it, including abroad.
Delete your account in the app from Account → Delete account. This deletes your account and its saved templates from our servers. It doesn’t cancel an Apple subscription; manage that in your Apple Account settings.
For any other request, email [email protected] with “Unfold privacy” in the subject. We may need to verify that the information belongs to you, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In Türkiye, that is the Personal Data Protection Authority.
09. Children
Unfold is made for makers of all ages, and every feature can be used without an account. A parent or guardian should create or approve an account for a child under 13, or under the age of digital consent where they live.
We don’t show ads to children, build advertising profiles, or sell their information. Purchases are made through an Apple Account, and families can use Apple’s Ask to Buy to approve them. Parents and guardians can contact us to review or delete a child’s information, and we will act on the request once we have verified it.
10. Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls, and secure storage on your device for sign-in sessions to protect information. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes & contact
We will update this policy when Unfold or its information practices change and revise the date above. We will give notice of material changes in the app or on this page, as required by applicable law.
